Launched in 2021 by Victoria Meyer-Hoffmann and Yasmine Blosse, ActionWomen aims to stimulate the debate on why empowering women can accelerate the transition to a more sustainable economy. ActionWomen is dedicated to achieving this aim through equality advocacy including equal access to resources, promotion of female entrepreneurship and education.

Sounds like a big aim? Growing up on the same street in a small German suburban town, the founders both had what was unusual at the time: mothers who were the breadwinners in the family. As a result, they always assumed that working was going to be key to their ability to raise their families and make an impact in the world.

“Our mums worked hard to provide for their family and made numerous sacrifices to ensure we had everything we needed, from education to experiences”, says Blosse. Seeing the effort and dedication that their mothers put into making the best life possible despite hard circumstances inspired the two women to found a women’s network that would tap into the power of collaboration through meaningful and lasting connections, and create a community that uplifts and guides its members to reach their fullest potential for good.

Our mission at ActionWomen is to create tangible, lasting change for women in the workplace and beyond. We recognize that no change can occur without action, and we are committed to taking proactive steps to dismantle the gender pay gap and empower women everywhere to get decent work, support themselves and their families, and have equal opportunities for leadership and participation in corporate decision-making.

“The idea for ActionWomen came from a pretty personal place for Yasmine and me,” says Meyer-Hoffmann, who now lives in Munich. “We wanted to create an action thank – a platform for women to share their work experiences, share resources and provide support to women who are starting their own businesses or pursuing their career goals.

“Through the ActionWomen platform, Blosse adds, “we strive to empower women to reach their full potential and have a positive impact on the world. We realised there’s no change without action — we are here to make it happen.”

One of the first high-profile ActionWomen initiatives is Actionella, creating a showcase for women-led bands in Bavaria. Actionella will take place in summer of 2024. Sign up for updates below:
